There are many
ministries in which to serve. If you have a desire to serve in any of these areas,
please see Pastor Scott or Elder, Bob Hendrix.
Greeters/Ushers
Your
face is the first face members and guests see as they enter SGBF! So put on a
smile, grab a handful
of bulletins and greet people at the door with a handshake or a hug. You are responsible for giving
first time Guests the "Guest Packet", answering questions and handing
out bulletins. It takes a keen eye to spot new guests and make them feel
welcome! Please linger by the entrance after service has started in order to
assist latecomers. Please arrive by 9:3Oam as people often start arriving by
9:45am. This is a great couple's ministry. See Phyllis Walters if you are interested
in serving in this hospitality ministry.
Children's Church Teachers
If you
feel called to teach our precious children (ages 5 -9), please see Julie Barrettsmith.
A Children's Church
curriculum is provided for you which includes a bible lesson, games &
crafts. There are quarterly
meetings after church on Sundays with the teachers, encouraging the sharing of
ideas, concerns and victories. You don't have to be a bible scholar to teach our
children - just a love for the Lord
and His kids. The teachers rotate on a weekly basis. A Youth Worker Application needs to be completed
and approved by the Leadership. Pastor Scott has the Applications.
Nursery Ministry
We are
always in need of caring people (13 years old through Adult) to watch the
babies ages 0 -4, during
the entire morning service. A Youth Worker Application needs to be completed and approved
by the Leadership. Currently we keep the babies busy with a short DVD, music, or
giving bottles
& snacks. Parents are responsible to change their own child's diapers.
The
Nursery Coordinator position responsibilities include: recruiting volunteers, making
schedules, keeping the Nursery clean and orderly, stocked with diapers, wipes, keeping
parents aware of the guidelines of the Nursery.See Kristalin Workinger.
Communion
On the
first Sunday of each month we celebrate Communion as the Lord commanded. To
prepare for Communion,
you are responsible to fill the Communion cups with grape juice (provided), break
the Matza crackers (provided) into bite size pieces and place them in the servers,
carry them to the front of the sanctuary & place them on a table. Arrive by
9:30am in order to be done before people start arriving. After morning service,
you are responsible to clean up whatever is left and put everything away.
Everything is stored in the kitchen. See JoEllen Letchinger.
Fellowship Team
We all
enjoy having a cup of coffee before & after church. The Fellowship Team is
responsible for this ministry.
You would make coffee before church starts, set up the Snack Table with cups, napkins
& plates, snacks and juice after the morning service. Cups, napkins,
coffee, napkins, cutlery are provided. You may also be asked to help with food preparation
serving and clean up during special events such as Christmas, Easter, seminars.
You will be placed on a rotating schedule.
The Clean Team
This
is an important ministry because we deeply desire to be good stewards of what
God has entrusted to us - this new building and the property around it. Weekly
inside cleaning involves dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping the tile floors,
emptying the garbages, cleaning the bathrooms. This can take up to an hour and
a half. This is a great couple's ministry. Outside landscaping & upkeep during
the summer & winter months is also an ongoing need. Please see Roger Griffith
if you can help out on a rotating basis.
Praise Team
If you
have experience with vocals or playing an instrument, see Bob Hendrix for more
information.The
Praise Team rehearses one week night and again before Sunday service from 8am
to 8:45am.There is
also an opportunity to help with song & Scripture verse overheads, typing
them out and using the
computer in the Sound Booth to project them on the wall during the morning service.
This involves coming
to church as early as 8am or possibly on a Wednesday night when the Praise Team
rehearses to prepare/type out the praise song words from the song list. See Bob
Hendrix.
Special Music or Talents
Do you
have a desire to sing a song that has touched your heart? Perhaps read a
Scripture that you found
powerful & moving? Read a poem? Maybe a short skit or drama? If you'd like
to share this with
the congregation, see Bob Hendrix first and share your ideas. He’ll schedule you
into a morning service.
Care Ministry
Do you
see a need in our congregation for encouragement with a card or something
practical like a meal? Does someone need help moving or with transportation? Join
this ministry created to minister to the practical needs of this body and even those
outside our congregation. See Debra Kraus for more details.
